Superman 4: The Quest for Peace!

 A while back I was asked to contribute a piece of art for the Superman 4 reunion held at Motor City Comic Con by Jim Bowers of CapedWonder.com. I usually jump at the chance to draw Superman and especially Christopher Reeve's Superman! I said yes, of course, but was saddened that I could not attend the event myself due to the timing of it and my son's high school graduation. So I ran thru several ideas but they wanted to showcase the attending guests as well as highlight the movie so it took me a few tries. I'm still pleased with how it turned out in the end.

Spider-Man and the Green Goblin!!

I had this sketch of Spider-Man and one of the Green Goblin in an old sketchbook from years ago that I always saw potential in. Recently I dug it out and started to noodle away on it bit by bit. Literally maybe a few lines a night (if that). Months go by with me continuing to put it away and then pick it back up. It's all on my iPad so it's at my fingertips. The initial sketches were thrown together and the touched up one done almost 10 years later. I then inked and colored the drawing. Turns out I was glad that I colored it!! The only thing was that I could not decide if I liked it on white or black. Then I noticed that it did not fit into my regular print dimensions so I added the Daily Bugle dressing.

Doctor Who Revisited!

 So I went back and touched up my earlier cartoon versions of all the Doctors. Some were just a tweak to the colors, Some, I re-drew parts and others I started over from scratch! I also added the War Doctor for the first time and finally drew Jodie Whittaker's 13th Doctor. I did make a version with, and without her.

Ok. To say that the 13th Doctor is a polarizing figure in Doctor Who fandom may be an understatement. I have actually had people ask me for her to be included (as I get with all the other Doctors) and had people begging me to NOT draw her. I will be clear. I am not a fan of her interpretation of The Doctor. In fact I find her stories to be pretty bad as a whole and my enthusiasm for the show has waned in the time since she took over the lead. I am hoping that the next Doctor restores my joy for the program. To that end, I came to the conclusion that I had to have her at the ready to include if I choose to continue with 14. What I do with this in the meantime, I don’t know. I have a few options and going to sit back and be patient until the time is right. Otherwise, this was actually fun to draw.
