Buster Crabbe as Flash Gordon!

 

This was the first oil painting that I was happy with so far. For this one I had a pencil drawing of Buster Crabbe (the original Flash Gordon in 1936) on the canvas (but added more shading than necessary in hindsight) and had rubbed in an imprimatura of burnt umber. 

This also marks the 7th time I have drawn Buster Crabbe as Flash Gordon (as I have also found a really old doodle in a sketchbook), and each time in a different style.
